White Bluff Elementary School

White Bluff Elementary School, located in Savannah, GA, is part of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. The new school was designed to accommodate 650 students and was constructed at a cost of $22.6 million. The contemporary facility features a comprehensive administrative suite, a cafeteria with an adjacent courtyard, a gymnasium, a cutting-edge library/media center, music and art rooms, special education rooms, and classrooms. Construction commenced on January 10, 2019, and concluded on July 31, 2020, culminating in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2020.

The White Bluff community, which includes smaller communities like Coffee Bluff, Nicholsonboro, Cedar Grove, and Rose Dhu.  Prior to the Civil War, this area had been occupied by plantations. In 1868, it was settled by 200 former slaves who were predominantly from St. Catherine’s Island. The rich Gullah-Geechee community was supported by fishing and farming with Savannah as the primary market.
